Fiberglass on the OEM hood?

Was tinkering today and noticed that the front piece of the hood (near the emblem) has a fiberglass component. Anyone ever notice this?See picture below.

I don't recall any fibreglass on my hood.

It was posted from my iPhone. It's one of the holes next to the latch (underneath)
