Brake Fluid Dripped All Over Paint
I just got a call from the shop. The MFR's parked my car under another car last night and it leaked brake fluid all over the paint. It hit the front window and then splattered everywhere on the front of the car.
I haven't seen the car yet as the shop is an hour away so I don't know how bad it is. (No pictures either - I'm going to ask for some.) I'm assuming that the paint has been eaten through though. This makes me sick because the paint was in good shape and original. What would you guys do?

would it be advisable to get your insurance companies claim guy there ASAP...you might have to get it done on your dime, then go after them.

I've asked for pictures. I would think this would go on his insurance, not mine. He already mentioned calling his insurance co. And he's not being an *** about it - yet. I think if I ask for the car to be repainted, he'll do it.

It sounds like you have two issues to deal with. The first is getting the paint fixed to your satisfaction. That can be a deal between you and the shop, or you can get your insurance company involved. Get past the fact that if the paint is damaged it will have to be resprayed if it is necessary, and find the best shop in your area to do the work. The second is diminshed value. As with the first issue, this can be a deal between you and the shop, or something you may have to get your insurance carrier involved with. But in either case given what 993 values are doing you have a claim if your car was wearing completely orignial paint and will now have some painted panels. So sorry to hear about this and I hope it gets resolved to make you as happy as possible.

Sorry to hear that. At least he sounds like a straight up guy. I would start looking and interviewing paint shops. The argument will probably be that his insurance only wants to pay for the panels that are damaged. (not agreeing - just my guess). If you decide it needs a full repaint, I'd be very clear to demand full repaint every time you talk to them from the beginning, before his adjuster even comes to look at it.

It is a black car right? Im assuming non metallic. I would think that repainting just what is necessary would be better than the whole car. I would much rather have that as long as the color and texture were EXACTLY like the stock paint. Maybe some $ for diminished value.

Such a bummer. Is your 95 Black single stage or clear paint? If single stage it will be a lot harder to find someone still doing single stage paint jobs AND experienced on working with Porsches. I would not ask for $12K...I would ask for a respray to your satisfaction. Do not know about your area but in a lot of places $12 may not get a high quality job.
