D1S vs. D2S litronic headlight bulb
I searched around, but could not get a definitive answer on this.
Looking at Pelican, it appears that the replacement bulb for the stock litronic xenon headlights are D1S bulbs.
But when I search on the web and rennlist, it looks like they are D2S.
Can someone confirm which bulb is correct?
Did the bulb types change depending on what year your car was? I have a '96 C4S.

In the Porsche parts catalog, both are listed in different part number headlights.
To confirm, on the bosch site as well, they list two different headlights with either of the bulbs.
google bosch e-cat and try to check, but exact date of change to D2S is vague.
Happened to me, so I took the headlight out to check.
To remove the bulb on mine was tricky, and needed a small lock tab to be bent.
If you stick on removing the bulb, let me know, I could maybe take some pictures.
I replaced my bulbs for fun, but found that the new bulbs were chinese knock offs, so I reverted to the originals.

Thanks geolab.
So it sounds like Porsche transitioned from D1S to D2S over time? Given both are listed and it's not clear which you have unless you take your bulb out from the headlight to double check.
If you don't mind taking some photos, that'd be awesome. Do you have D1S or D2S bulbs?

Thanks. I'm curious what the OEM D2S bulb replacement should be.
I can't seem to find it online because most sites refer to D1S bulbs.
Porsche 993 Xenon Headlight OEM Bulb Osram D2S Part number : 999 631 035 90 -- points to D1S bulbs.
Anyone had to replace their stock litronic bulbs?

Original Litronic Headlamp bulb
In my car today are two different bulbs.Osram D2S - 35W 6y5/184
The Osram site recomends Zenarc Original with Model# 66240 at 3200 lumins lm flux +- and 4100 colour or 66240CLC- classic. Then newer brighter bluer options which may create additional heat and subsequently effect headlight bracket leading to warpage?
And my 2nd bulb Philips 85123. Replacent D2SC1 at 3400 lumens with 4200 colour
Anyone know what is original?
or what # kelvins bulbs should be?
Thinking buying either are adequate and yes I read should be replaced in pairs.
Porsche - Sunset shows part # same bulb works in 40 car models to 2013.
what is bulb capacity for wiring?
Do not want to burn a wire or burnout a circuit.
Could one go brighter on oem 1997 technology?

I thought the factory bulbs were more bluish - closer to 5K Kelvin. I'd get a matching set with a Kelvin value around 5K. 6K would be too blue for me, and under 4K isn't blue enough.
If you want bright, go with Tore's LED high beams (Bergville FX) and it will rock your world. If you buy the LED high beam make sure you get the one for Litronics because they mount differently.
I wouldn't upgrade the litronic low beam bulb wattage or anything like that from factory. New bulbs will be brighter than your old ones. They lose brightness over time.

My issue No Power is Fuse 23 - 15 Amp Litronic fuse.
Hoping just a dead bulb?
So will order one bulb and hopefully see what happens next?
Yes I read buy in pairs But the Osram still working after 10 years so will buy another.
If happy will order a second Osram shortly thereafter.
I have the brochure on Tequipment - headlights in my car file
Or if the bulb does not solve my issue it means I am on to the switch next
