Just a thought, perhaps an inquiry directly to Hella in Germany might yield you the part number just for the switch (not the entire CCU) and maybe even the actual switch. I would email them the Porsche part number for the CCU as well as a photo of the CCU and the Hella switch in question (all shown in this thread); all the while pleading for assistance to return your Porsche to its original condition and level of enjoyment.

Here is a link to the Hella Germany contact page: http://www.hella.com/hella-com/563.html?rdeLocale=en

Hope this assists in your efforts.

Thanks, linen grey ghost. I've sent an email to Hella (Behr) asking for help in finding this elusive switch. If I can find it, I'll set up a group purchase.

I'll check monday when I'm in the shop for a CCU. We just cleared an old parts storage room to make a new engine room and saw all sorts of stuff. I thought I saw one. I know I found all sorts of stuff for 944s, older 911s, even some dual distributors. I'll post back. Even if it is a bad unit would have the buttons.

Many thanks, Viperbob1. The buttons are what is broken on mine, so even if the switch you have is bad, I may be able to repair it using bits from my current switch.

You know I have a number of customers we converted over the past few years to DE or race cars. I'll contact them and see if they still have their old stuff.

Much appreciated. Defective CCUs may have usable parts.

bobbyt this is scary....that it is this difficult to find a $5 .5in x.5in piece of plastic. i'm sure we are not the first or last to face this dilemma.

If I can get a good set of the snowflake buttons, I'm going to pursue getting some made up. My son is an engineer who worked eight years in stereolithography (3D Systems), so he may be able to find a source to manufacture a small run of these. There may even be someone on this forum who has a 3D printer...

i'm in, because this is beyond frustrating. unless of course one doesn't mind ponying up $1800 for a CCU

I met some of the guys from Classic back in Germany at the 2011 Parade and am now in need of a replacement switch for my 993 CCU as well. I reached out to them this past week and asked if it was possible Classic could reintroduce the dual button switch. Unfortunately, they checked and emailed me back that Classic has no plans at all to reintroduce the switch and the only option is the entire CCU.

Seems like with this message, somebody would have the resources or know someone who could manufacture replacements or even offer a "rebuild service." I know some guys in the 914 world that are manufacturing parts that are NLA or prohibitively expensive and will be posting to them to see what their thoughts are, but figured I'd propose it here first. Anyone know anyone or have any ideas? These switches are only going to be failing more and more as they get more use and our cars get older.
