UPDATE: Need help quick please! Car started to lose power as driving. No Gears!
So today I installed new hid fog lights in my 993. Then I started the car and drove off to the store. 2 min after i left, the radio started to flicker and then died. I turned the fog lights off and it came back on. Then i turned my fogs on and it died. So then i turned on my wipers and it moved so slowley.
I then pulled over, turned off all devices waited a couple minuties and it seemed like things had power again.
BUT, the problem is that when I put the car in to drive, the light turns on in the D. (This is tiptronic btw) but the gear light is not on. I drove the car and it won't changed gears. The faster I go it just increases in RPMS, not changing to 2nd 3rd or 4th.
Now i unplugged the HIDs fog lights to see if any change but nothing. I am leaving them unplugged.
Any Idea???? This is stress full.

That doesn['t sound fun! Since this is affecting a number of electrical functions, I would start by reading the battery voltage with the car off, and with the car running to see if you have enough juice, and if the alternator is working.
Just a couple Fridays ago we had another car stranded with electricals.

Looks like your alternator was not charging the battery, or the battery itself is weak.
What I would do as a first step is disconnect battery and check voltage. If weak, charge the battery, disconnected from car.
When charged, reconnect in car with fog lights unplugged, and this will hopefully reset the Tip Box and all.
HID's if well connected, pumped the juice from the battery it seems
Edited: Paul answered your question faster than I did, and we seem to point to the same thing, cool

I see what you guys mean. The car is out side in my drive way now. Everything seems to work radio, wipes exc. I just won't changed gears. That's what scares me. The car drive just no gear change.
I just swapped out the DME Relay and nothing. Is there a fuse or something? I checked most of them in the pass side fuse box and them seem mostly good on what i belive would matter.
Also I have no idea if this matters but yesterday, i removed the steering wheel to changes the blubs in the dash. I dont thing this has anything to do w anything but Idk.

I don't have a multimeter, i could go to walmart and pick one up just cant drive fast. The car starts up and off fine. The battery seems to be holding up. Ithink..

Glad you got it home...I still think it best to start with the battery/alternator, and go from there. I must confess I know nothing about the workings of the Tip, but it is unclear what made your other electrical problems go away. If not alternator or battery, it could be related to a bad ground strap.

Disconnect battery negative, put a rag around the plug not to touch anything, disconnect positive. Wait 30 seconds and reconnect positive, then negative and check the Tip.
Did you disconnect the battery for the works you did ?

If I didn't know any better I'd venture the power supply for the Tip control unit has been
Compromised ...check the fuses related to transmission also if you removed the steering wheel you likely didn't't reconnect one of those plugs that controls push button shifting.
I would also unplug battery before doing so as the airbag unit will trigger the airbag light if you don't...Bert

I agree with this and have experienced ECU oddities after a battery disconnect. I would reset.
