Default Keeping stock OE parts, how important is it?

I'm looking to upgrade my exhaust to the Fister stage 2s. I'm incline to get a used set of OE exhaust to trade in for the Fisters so I can keep my originals. If one day I do sell my car(for another 993 of course) I'd like to have all my original parts. I'm under the assumption stock cars seller quicker because they appeal to a larger audience.

So my question is should I source out another exhaust for the trade in or don't worry about it?

I even kept my stock speakers and wiring......

But, you are improving or "rebuilding" your stock exhaust. I would personally just use em.

dude, 993 parts are dime a dozen. If you really so badly want stock parts, they are always up for sale from somewhere.

In my opinion, just have yours sent to fister. value of stock mufflers is basically zip.

I would say depends on your car. If its such low mileage that someone would buy it for that reason and its originality, then pick up another set. If you have a standard 993 with > 40k miles or so no ones cares.

Isn't the ultimate question who would want stock after hearing the Stage II's at full roar??? I think stock cans will be readily available for a while.

Never know what people clamor after down the road. Aluminum S calipers? Junk, performance-wise. Got tossed all the time. S front bumper/spoilers? Need an RS/RSR fiberglass unit to clearance the oil cooler. Sport seats? Why keep those heavy things in the car. Aluminum deck lids? Not going to sufficiently support that big wing.

Hell, there's even a demand for Zenith carbs from the T's. And don't get me started on MFI--pump, throttle bodies, or stacks, of any generation.

I think you have to weigh your options. Since I've lived through all of the above and seen the value of the parts that people threw away most often go higher and higher on the early cars, I'm of the keep it and store it school if you can afford to do so and when you go to sell the car, having those stock parts is a BIG deal to many buyers .. as a matter of fact, if you return the car to stock condition you will get more money for it from a wider buyer demographic and then you can put the modded parts on your next car or sell them for near what you paid ... just sayin'.

if a buyer of my car bitched about not having the stock mufflers, I'd tell him to get lost.

OP, did you buy the car for yourself or the next buyer? at 33k, who cares. drive it till it has more than 40k and forget about it.

My car is so far from stock (the way I want it) that I could care less. Some people need everything to be 100% OEM down to their $800 tips. It's easy to decide which camp you are in.

IMO keep all OEM parts possible in the basement or the attic
buy aftermarket or used parts to hotrod.
That way you can always go back.

I have kept my factory motor sound mufflers just in case my beneficiaries are more conservative and can't appreciate the lovely rasp of the Fister StageIIIs!!

YOU AIN'T KIDDING. Was contemplating modifying my stock alu 2.0 into a 901/22, ala 911R. Saw what Weber 46IDA carbs were going for and swallowed my tongue.

Heck, even the steel wheels found on a freakin 912 have gone up.

As to the OP's question regarding a 993 exhaust, I would not worry. With Porsche Classic's PET catalog, you can almost build a new 993.

I do think it depends upon the part. I'm not sure mufflers matter all that much. I keep most everything, but I'd not bother with the mufflers.
