^^ see there, I should have known not to doubt the Pope.

I know we've talked about the wheel being rare but obviously I missed the details in an email. Now I officially know.

I was with RocketJohn, Aircooled, and Texas993 last weekend going over the cars and I tried (miserably) to explain the wheel history. Yes, I will sock it aware sir into the secret heirloom vault.

Thanks JP, now is part of Rennlist archives.

IMHO, the RS wheel would fit nicely with your RS tribute.

BTW ... leather wrapped items like this should be stored like a fine leather jacket ... i.e. in something breathable like soft sponge foam or even wrapped in soft linen and put away in a temperature controlled space. The worst possible thing you could do is wrap it in plastic or bubble wrap and put it somewhere in a non-temp controlled garage ....

Im not sure about your perf.wheel but I can be sure of one detail. I bought the RS stearing wheel from johan and robs sled. Im just now contemplating installing it, the wiring for the horn can be abit hokee

Also, Sir Ive always loved that yellow rs clone, I recall reading the thread numberous times.
I think the RS wheel from Carnewal.com is a sure win inyour car & the price is not too bad either.
best of luck

Default 4-spoke sport steering wheel

As you can see in the picture, its basically perforated leather versus smooth.

I would like to know more about the steering wheel.
- Did it come from the factory included in one of my options codes?
- Is the wheel standard on 993 RS models?
- Is it just a standard wheel someone had redone with perforated leather?

My hero JPP tells me its rare, and he's only seen a couple times, but I can't help wanting to fill in the blanks on its origin.

Yes, I have search many times, but too many results that lead to dead ends. I appreciate any help or insight.
Hi, I don't think that is the 4-spoke sport wheel. Here is a shot I grabbed off
of Truspeed's website a long time ago of a wheel in a C2S which I believe is the 4-spoke sport wheel.

Ops, oh yeah you're right! Somewhere I've got another pic that shows
the whole wheel. Sorry about that.

^^^ No worries. It's fairly common to see those with a Porsche crest glued on to the airbag. They're offered by RUF with their logo on the airbags and of course, Aitwe is the manufacturer IRRC.

V-- Hey, brother! I think a lot about checking back in with you. I'm dying to catch up on some big things going on in your life. You're a quietly humble Porsche superstar, IMHO.

Your Porsche expertise about exotic details is SO impressive.
Unless my eyes are deceiving me, your photo looks like a 'badge delete' crest on the steering wheel. That's the 1st I've ever seen from Porsche or TechArt on a 4-spoke wheel.

Tony-- Likewise, it was good to hear from you; I'm remiss in responding to your last PM. Mea culpa...

Thought you'd like to see the SW on this '97 Turbo's eBay ad, #130954706676, FS by nicepar4tom40z8:

Hey Jäger buddy

Wow, thanks for the kind words . Thats coming from the guy who built his own speedster . I just try to contribute the best I can. I'm not that active in writing lots of stuff, just mostly browsing the threads.

As you might know, I am addicted to Porsches, and 993s in particular with 964s as a close second. As for checkng back with me, it would be my pleasure. A lot has happened since we spoke last. My dream has always been to build a new 993 to my personal spec. from the ground up. You have my email right? Would love to catch up!

Jager, Glare can be problematic with those white gauge faces!
