Default clearing codes on 95 ODB1 with T-ODB and Scantool

I've been using my T-ODB from ToreB and the scantool program on my laptop to talk to my '95 ODB1 ECU for a while now. I needed the ECU pin switch that Pdriver came up with to be able to talk to the DME but everything is working great. I was able to fix my CCU problems (2 blown servos & a bad blower resistor) very efficiently. Many thanks Tore!!

The other day, after a weekend touring Sonoma/Marin I checked the codes and found I had Knock Sensor 2 error code. After some searching here I learned I should clean the contacts on the 2 connectors which I have done. Is this place great or what?

My questions are:
-will the knock sensor error code clear itself or do I need to clear it in scantool?
-if I clear the code in scantool, will I reset the readiness flags?

Please note this is a '95 ODB1 car so I don't think ODB2 rules apply.

Anyone been down this particular road?

Since its OBD1 and pre-96 aren't the readiness monitors irrelevant anyway?

Are you sure the car even has them?

This is a great place though!

No readiness codes in obdI. Zero change if you clear the error codes or not.
I would clear them for fun, and change gas station to check if knock comes back.

Hi Iain, sent you a PM a week or so back. Just wanted to know if you could give me details to your DME modification. I bought a T-ODB from Tore, but cannot connect to the DME or SRS/Airbag. The CCU function works fine. I have a '97 OBD2 car, so it probably would not work for me anyway. Oh well, I will try to figure something out, the DME function was the main thing I was after. All the best...Paul

Geo! Always a pleasure to hear from you and thanks for your wisdom.

Paul, apologies for intermittent usage. I think my experience is 1995 only. A very unique year. It was to do with the immobilizer and I followed pdrivers work:

disclosure: I'm an electronics engineer so was comfortable removing the immobilizer module and soldering wires and switches to it. Take precaution for ESD/static.

I drove the car 3 days and the knock sensor flag was still on. So I cleared it. 2 days driving and it's still clear so I guess cleaning the connectors was a good thing to do.

Thanks much, I was thinking about doing the modification, but I will probably just go with another solution that works with the Drive Block Immob and OBD2. All the best....Paul
