Default Stereo headunit glare what is best?

Hello folks,

After struggling to see my head unit display yesterday I have had enough, time for a new head unit with reduced glare (hopefully).

Currently have a cheap Pioneer unit which really sucks, cant see it and the main control button is way too sensitive. Weird because other Pioneer products I have owned have been good.

Wondering if anyone has found a head unit that is at least kind of visible in daylight for the few times i do want to listen to the stereo?

Understand from the searches that some people have installed antiglare stickers on the display so may look to do this also. Just need to get rid of that current unit.

Thanks Steven

Same problem here. Did you ever find a solution?

My solution was this: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KIV9...KIV-BT901.html

It has an LCD screen. So the colors are much more easier too see in sunlight. There is still glare at some angles but it doesn't bother me like some other aftermarket radios ive tried.

I put a Clarion CZ702 in mine (for the active 3 way processing) and its totally unreadable due to glare.

I plan on trying the antiglare film you can buy for cell phones.

I have the same problem with mine. I bought a Pioneer DEH-80prs. Awesome sounding unit, but cannot read the screen in daylight.

I recently replaced the head unit in my 1996 cab....and found all the current units to be glossy.
I don't know why.
My old unit was a matte finish Alpine and my new unit is a high gloss Alpine ( with all the new technology ).
I love the features and sound quality...the glossy finish...not so much.

I agree. When went to replace mine, I couldn't find an aesthetically pleasing unit. Why can't they make something in a matte or satin black finish. And while I'm on a rant, what's with all the chrome trim?
