Most Fikse original owners paid $3600 for their new set, so $1800, maybe $1850 plus shipping would be what I'd offer anyone on this forum for their set. Perhaps the smartest money is to buy a brand new set of wheels as Doug Neilson suggests in the October Pano article https://www.pca.org/panorama/edition...a-october-2014 I've had my eyes on BBS LM 099 and LM 100 for some time. I just don't like how heavy they are, but since they'll strictly be road wheels, I might be able to live with their extra heft. http://www.bbs-usa.com/road-wheels-d...fm?CLID=6&WF=7
When I was purchasing used wheels, if I knew someone had a barely used set of FM-1s for sale for $2,700, I would have jumped on them in a heartbeat. No warranty, sure, but the wheels are incredibly well made and I daresay should easily last 100,000 plus road miles (and pile of track miles). Hell, I bought Boris Teksler's used FM-10s way back in 2007 (https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...8-et-65-a.html). The only reason it took six hours to sell is because we were on different coasts.

Although I fully understand the inherent dangers of buying used wheels, you sound like someone who really needs to buy new rims, meaning I'm surprised you'd find $1,850 for used Fikses to be remotely tenable given your concerns.

And to think that I was the uneducated one when a set of FM10's came up for sale and I thought the seller was asking too much.

A question"

Would an X Ray of the rims address concerns of buying a used rim?
Resposes are welcomed.

No I have not read the article, yet - But I will
Thanks TJ

Mine are 8x18 51mm offset with 225/40 18 tires and 10x18 57 mm offset with 265/35 18 tires (Sumitomo HTRZ) 18 in tires will also fit easily. The rear fenders have not been rolled. The car is at RS height.

When I bought this car, one of the inner barrels was cracked on the Fikse's that came with it. I got the replacement part from Alan@Fikse, and fixed it myself. Pretty straightforward, if you have a small torque wrench. I also bought new hardware, even though Alan said it was unnecessary. He was right. The hardware was like new.
Love the wheels.

Love the wheels.
The rear inner barrels are a weak point on the Fikse wheels. The rim half flexes around the bolt head when you hit a pot hole.

That being said I have owned several sets and currently have 2 on hand. I had to replace inner rim halves twice due to cracking around the bolt hole. Both times I can recall road surface causing the problem. I have yet to a problem with the fronts or centers. I know there was a bad batch running around from 2003 era. Other than that I think they are solid wheels.

I have bought and sold them between $2k and $2,700 depending on condition and color. Silver was the cheapest and black the most expensive.
