I'm not sure what your question is....I simply stated that the 1995 windshield is different than 1996-1998. The replacement windshield may be a different part number. Even if the difference is minute, the skin has to be formed to an exact windshield. Because of this, ClearPlex lists a different part number for a 1995 and forms it to the specific windshield listed for that model year.

I hope that helps. If you have a more specific question you need me to answer, please email me at pawparts@gmail.com.

The cost of $80 for shipping to Vancouver BC makes it unviable , therefore I am out .

Cheers Guy

The changeover occurs at Vin #99SS3 20897.

I'm in and shall send payment, but guess I need to look at my VIN...

The changeover occurs at Vin #99SS3 20897. Despite what most of the aftermarket glass installers say online here and at pelican, there was a 4mm change in size between the 964 and 993 in the windshield aperture. I think this might be the actual changeover date/number?
So does ^^ mean that my VIN of 323xxx is actually a 96 part number, or just means it's a 993 part number and not a 964 part number?

Thanks,

Not sure how I could have been more explicit, have for reference an '84, '95, '97 (and even a 964 windshield buried in the bowels of one of my parts rooms).

Yes, I'm aware of that, however.............

Thanks,
Good question.

Here's the thing:

I've put late 993 windshields in early 993s. (Which, I suspect the yellow car has, but I can't really be sure at this point.)

I've put a 964 (gasp) windshield in one 993, using the old-fashioned 964 gasket. (Yeah, race car.)

I've put non-glass windshields in pretty much every generation of an air cooled.

I've put who-knows-what-year in RSA #1 when I raced it. (Like every three events some slick-shod pony trotter would kick a boulder up at me while I was trying to get around him in a stock class car.)

So, color me confused.

Ultimately at this point, given I've got a $50 deductible AND am facing pulling my newly installed glass back out of the 4S because the "pro" who installed it has left me with a wind leak up top, there doesn't seem to be much utility in messing with things further.

All sounds good, are there any unusual interactions if I wear polarized Oakley sunglasses?

OT, but important information.

My teen sons tell me "Oakley's are no longer cool, Dad." Just saying. Apparently you have to go back to Ray Bans.

Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger.
