Yeah, miles are the killer. $22K for my second one sold 2+ years ago. Was as good as any with half the miles on it though. (Was purchased for $18K in '04. The first one, the race car, was $21K in 2001; but that's ancient history price tracking-wise.)

The RS Americas aren't appreciating as quickly as the 993 C2S. For as nice as the 964 is the only model that is really increasing in value is of course the 964 Speedster.
If you have the opportunity to get yourself one of the last air-cooled cars in a condition that is agreeable by you, grab it quick or someone else will.

I swear the opinions stated as facts around here are getting ridiculous.
Drive both, buy what you like better. this is really not hard.

I think they made about 900 964 Speedsters, and only 250 America Roadsters

Lots of 964's will do well longterm, here would be my list:
-1994 964 Speedster
-1994 964 America Roadster
-1994 964 C4 WB Coupe
-1993-94 RS America
- 964 C4 "Lightweight"
- 964 RS
- 964 3.6 Turbo
-964 3.6 Turbo Pkg Car
- 964 3.6 Turbo Flachbau
- 964 3.3 Turbo
- 1992 964 Turbo S2
The other car that will continue to do well is a a 1992-1994 964 C2 5-speed coupe. Very low production numbers, most of the 964 bugs worked out and the most desirable of the non-limited editions...
Come to think of it you could almost argue the only 964's which will be laggards will be Tiptronics, early 89.5-91 cars, Targa's and Cabriolets...
Dont get me wrong I LOVE 993's but loving another genre of P-car does not in any way denigrate another. For those of you with multiple children, you can love them all even though they are distinctly different!

Of course condition and color between the cars can be another big decision point. Color is a personal preferance but condition and possible dollars associated with unexpected repairs would swing my decision between cars. To me however, the 993 is a much better looking car and natural progression or evolution of the design.

The RS america are hot on the market right now.
Just because of the name, the sticker and the door pullies. Even though they havent much in common with true RS.
Nice rs america dont come that often, so i would suggest buy this one, keep it wo years, sell it to me and get the c2s.
The c2s is a better car overall, but there is something in having a non mainstream air-cooled 911.
And somehow, to me, the rs america wins.
Especially if it has factory sport seats in cloth.

I just came from a RSA and now have a 98 C2S. The C2S is for me a much better day to day driver.
