Pretty straight forward question:
Looking to get into an air cooled Porsche.
Both cars are in very near mint condition with around 60k on the clock. Both manual (obviously). RSA is in Guards Red and C2S is silver.
I've never owned an air cooled Porsche, just a 996 and a bunch of BMWs.
What are people's thoughts?

Both unique.
I'd go with the C2S Cause you get the split grill. That's pretty unique.

I tossed the same discussion into the 964 thread as well to see what they'd say. I figured there would be some level of bias, but you never know.
One thing to mention is the C2S is a good $7k more

Can't for the life of me understand why anyone would pay a premium for an RS America. They should actually be worth less. Only difference (except for the very rare ones with sunroof/AC/etc delete) is the manual rack. You can buy that manual rack used and put it in a 993 (I know because I did it, temporarily).
It's not an improvement! The steering is incredibly heavy and the ratio is slower than the power rack. Other than having a pointlessly awful steering rack, there's no difference between an RS America and a regular 964. It's like paying a 20% premium for a worse car. Will never understand.

Drive each and draw your own conclusion?
But a 993 of any sort is a much better going-up-and-down-the-road car than a 964.
(And I'm in the club that hates non-assisted steering.)

For driving, the c2s is better. For investing, the RSA (especially of a true lightweight version w/ sunroof and A/C delete) is better. Pretty much that simple.

The true lightweight version is the Carrera RS, not the RS America.

I agree with Inka, if you are looking to invest to for the RSA. The 993 C2S might go up in value, but the RSA is going up. Five years ago they were selling for $25k. I also agree it needs to have only the LSD, no radio, no A/C, no sunroof. The 993s might increase in value, especially the low production number models. If your not investing, drive both and pick the on you like better.
