Awesome. Mine is a second car and "only" has 110k on the clock, but love this post as it shows that the best way to keep em running is to actually use them. I drove mine to Atlanta and back last week for a two day track day at AMP and loved every second of the journey.
c'mon richarddew...get out and drive that garage queen...cheers
'A 993 with 300,000 miles on the clock is by far more impressive than a garage queen with 3000 miles.'
don't know about more impressive but is sure alot more fun.

I have a lot of respect for someone who enjoys their 993 the way you do. You drove the hell out of it, but still with enough care and respect for the machine to continue to bother to warm up the engine after all those miles and wear. I wish you another 300k in good health, and God willing mine will hit those numbers while in my care as well. Thanks for sharing!
I hope any machine given $6500 a year would continue to run practically forever. That's a lot of dedication from a lot of aspects / resources.
Well done.

Amazing, isn't it?
ORLANDO,Fla., (April 27, 2012) – AAA released the results of its annual ‘Your Driving Costs’ study today revealing a 1.9 percent rise in the yearly costs to own and operate a sedan in the U.S. The average costs rose 1.1 cents per mile to 59.6 cents per mile, or $8,946 per year, based upon 15,000 miles of annual driving.
“The average driving cost for 2012 is up due to relatively large increases in fuel and tire costs, and more moderate increases in other areas,” said John Nielsen, AAA director of Automotive Engineering and Repair. “Those increases were offset by a decrease in depreciation resulting in an overall increase of 1.9 percent.”
