297,495

I meant to post at 295,000 but it came and went during some lousy weather and I didn't get to take any photos. I should hit 300,000 by the beginning of July. I anticipate being at 299,650 June 22 when I get back from a road trip to Virginia, and 300,000 my next trip down June 29th. I still haven't done any major engine work. Clearly, leaving the engine tray on hasn't hurt much. A few weeks ago I rented a 2013 Boxster for a weekend in L.A. and I couldn't wait to get back into my car when I got home. When I bought the car in 1996 (with 42 miles on the odometer) I rationalized the purchase telling myself that I would drive it for 250,000 miles. I never thought that I would actually hit that. I hadn't kept a car for more than 2 years up to that point, including a new 1995 red/tan C2. I just purchased a top. It'll be the third, including the one it came with. I am on my second clutch. The first was replaced at 89,000, I think. Anyway, nothing says age like patina so I took a few photos of the interior parts that display it.

My accessories. The interior of my car is no longer sacred. It hasn't been for a while. I added a 3 outlet adapter and a cupholder to the console. Plugged in is my Garmin, my Valentine 1 and my skydock. Necessary items for frequent road trips.

I'm looking forward to hitting 400,000 in 2018.
Thanks for looking
rich

!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!

The steering wheel is awesome.

But I have to ask, do you wear your smoking jacket in the car?

Quadcammer 05-27-2013 07:45 PM

congrats on the mileage. Some of the "patina" on the interior would bug me though.

enjoy.

297,495 is how you pronounce bullet-proof!

The best part of the whole story is that's 300,000 miles of driving enjoyment. How many of us drive something less desirable in order to "save" the good 993. Stupidity and I am sadly part of that group! Thanks for giving us all some perspective.

The pipe is my favorite image....

Nice! I'm amazed the odometer worked that long.. or have you replaced the gears a couple times?
