Euro 993 vs. US 993
Looking for difference between the two. I know that the euro version has no bumperettes, side fender turn signals, KMH speedo/odometer and lower ride height. I'm wanting to know the following:
1. Engine / HP / Emissions
2. Interior trim
3. Other exterior trim than mentioned above
4. Market value relative to same US version
5. Anything else I missed
Regarding HP, it seems the euro version is rated higher and I'm wondering if it's simply the way they measure it vs. actual difference.

The HP difference is in the different standards of measurement. Early non-Varioram cars were rated at 272 DIN (ROW)or 270 SAE (North America). Varioram cars were 285 DIN or 282 SAE.
North Americanspec cars had SAI pump, ROW did not.
Equipment levels or standard equipment were dictated by the market in which they were sold. Some markets, such as North America, had higher levels of equipment as "standard".
From what I've seen,German market cars came with the least amount of standard equipment ( the only 993s I've seen with cloth seats were German market cars).
Which is more valueable? A car sold in its home market will usually be worth more given similar specs and condition. Obviously cars not available in a given market will likely be worth more (such as a 993RS in North America).
Also, early ROW 993s had the G50/21 gearbox (G50/20 in North American and later ROW cars), a highly desirable more closely geared version of the G50. It was used until early calendar year 1996 from what we've seen.

- SUV suspension for US models
- different Motronic (but can be flshed to Euro spec if brought to Europe)
- Basket handle for specific model years
- full 3 pt harness for US cabrios (not sure but I think I have read this somewhere)
- Color of rear flash lights (red US vs. orange Euro)
- Some Euro models came in full leather as base trim (e.g. C4S)
- Annoying sound when car door is open (US Model only)
- Print on outside mirrors (US Model only)
- Additional warning labels (welcome to America)
- Radio increments to tune AM frequencies
- Tinted windows

Hmm, my C4S has a 1/96 build date and was a Canadian spec car, first sold in Montreal. Wonder if I got so lucky as to have the closer geared box....

1) ride height US is 20mm higher stock and 30mm taller w/ M030 option
2) US used g50/20 for all years(bad because it was designed by US bureaucrats ), RoW got g50/21 w/ better gearing in 2-6 but they eventially ran ot of /21s and put /20s in RoW too
3) Motoronic, US used OBD1 55pin Motronics only for MY95, then switched to 88pin OBD2 compliant Motronic for MY96 up. MY 96 is a unique non flashable setup, '97 & 98 are at least reflashable by a professional service. all n/a RoW 993 are 55pin OBD1 compliant. All the 55pin DMEs have socketed chips which are user replaceable
4)US bumpers are larger and more protuberant and heavier, this entails a different front turn signal assembly

Interesting differences.
Also RoW models such as mine, some came w/o check engine light and also for certain countries with no emission law w/o oxigen sensors (both my 95' Carrera and 97' turbo didn't come with O2 sensors) also not sure if all RoW but maybe does, didn't comr with the SAI system.

Let's not forget LHD v. RHD, if you call the UK "Euro"; and all the little things that make that happen.
(Still want to drive a RHD 993 someplace like Silverstone. I know, I know....you UK guys have told me it sucks. RHD in the Radical is great; but yeah I get the shifter and pedals thing on a production car that really wasn't designed that way.)

In my option list of my 95' but says this:
The same goes for my 97' 993tt RoW. I expected like you as well, that my cars wouldn't have CAts inside the "stock looking cans" like my old 80's and 90's BMW I have that also were equipped with special code for countries with leaded gas, so those BMW's were builded with out CAT and with out 02 sensors.
When I inspected in my 95' & 97' inside the "CAT's" thinking I wouldn't find the ceramic substrate core, big was my surprise they were there from factory, yet both cars didn't have 02 sensors from factory and my 95' has the check engine symbol but doesn't work (as intended from factory) but my 993tt doesn't have that symbol, therefore both doesn't get any check engine light.
I would like you inspect with a bore scope when you have a chance inside the CANs and see if it really has the core inside or are empty like my BMW's that they has the stock looking CAT cans from outside but were deleted fromf factory the inside core.
