Looking for a wall-mountable vacuum and air blower and I ran across this from Griots...anyone have this product that can offer feedback?

I haven't seen the griots model but I installed this 5hp craftsman wall model last year and I'm very happy with it. It's build sturdy, mounts on the wall very securely, it's easy to remove and carry, has a lot of power and the hose will stretch diagonally across my two car garage to the opposite corner. Sears also sells a car detail kit with micro attachments. I paid $95 on sale. It looks a bit larger than the griots.

^^^ For $95, the Sears seems like a great deal. I bought this one from Girot's last year .. on sale, it was $185 free shipping. Seriously Great suction, and very easy to use. It is wall mount only, but the hose is 30 feet long (!) and comes with a lot of useful attachments. Amazon has some of Griot's stuff for sale .. I'd check for sales:

I went with the vaccumaid (garage vac) Gv50. Awesome power, 50 ft hose, cheap attachments though- but pulls amazingly strong. Permanent wall mount. Made in the USA. I compared it with the Hoover but after reading many reviews it seemed the advantage was with the garage vac. I can't compare but I'm very happy with my purchase.

It does nothing as a blower - I can't imagine any that would. I use compressed air from my nail gun compressor all the time for drying and detailing.

What do you want to use the "air blower" feature of the vacuum for?

If that is the case, I wouldn't be using any hose or tube that was used to vacuum up dirt, to then be used to blow dry my car.

Yep, I'd like to have something to blow water off the car vs drying it with a chamois or something. I don't have an air compressor and I'm interested in something that is wall mountable and both vacuums and blows.

I was look at this one...I couldn't figure out if it had a remote switch at the end of the hose so I don't have to keep walking back and forth to shut II off, does it?

I use a Toro two-speed electric blower to dry the cars, inexpensive and works great. $50. I think it was.

Just checked Amazon; even less than $50.

Add another $40 for a Shop Vac All Around model (small and compact) and you are out of pocket less than $100 for both. Shop Vac has a compact wall mountable version as well.

^^^ Yeah, well that would be the way to go if you're going to use a blower to dry the car .. you want something a bit more 'portable' anyway and no danger of dirt and debris in the system.

I'm using a portable blower now to dry the car and it works fine...I was just intrigued at the idea of one thing to both dry and vacuum that I could mount to the wall...space-saving, equipment-saving, likely not cost-saving (lol)...I thought about the fact that reversing a vaccuum to then blow could shoot unwanted dirt in the hose back onto the car, but I figured that the people designing the thing would ensure that didn't happen knowing crazy car people like us would recognize that liability straight away.

Any feedback from people who have one machine to do both? Is there hairballs and gum wrappers being launched against the paint when you revert to blow from suck???
