Default alternator belt size

Hi everyone:
I have searched the forums but there seems to be a difference of
opinion as to the correct size of the alternator belt for a 97 C2. Is
it 9.5 x 757 (that is what I have on now) or 9.5 x 760.
Thanks

Outer-alternator belt-Porsche part # 999 192 343 50, 9.5 X 760.

Inner-cooling fan belt-Porsche part # 999 192 338 50, 9.5 X 776.

Same belts for all 993s, C2/C4, tip or manual.

I recommend using only genuine Porsche belts. Some owners have had problems (including mysterious CEL) caused by other belts, even though they appear to be correct dimensions and fit. Maybe something to do with the flexibility of the belts, belt pitch, or who knows.

Make sure you have some extra shims to adjust belt tension and that you tension the belt to spec.

Not true for ROW cars, so be careful out there!

+1 They aren't expensive & I had a random misfire clean up after installing OEM belts. Not worth saving $5 on that one for a potential CEL.

Good point, Pervy. I was thinking only of US cars.
