Thanks for the feedback guys, it is helpfull.
H.H. Chin, my car is 12/97 production as the label in the door jams states. WS321300. I was told by the original owner it was one of the last 993 coupes off the line before they closed for Xmas. Then it was 996 cars only for the NA market. It is a C2S silver ,black with sport seats. Date of delivery was 1/27/1998. It didn't take long from production line to the Ct. Dealer and into the owners hands.

Oh .. and that vin I mentioned .. 1353, it's just the last reported 'completed' coupe vin for North America according to Patrick Paternie's 'Porsche 911 Red Book 1965-2005' it doesn't have any other details ... but his book also says that 993 production continued until July 1998 and if Harlan's car is 20 from the end and his door sticker says 12/97 (which were applied at the accepting dealer btw ..) .. and the factory was producing 60 cars a day at it's peak .. then it seems logical that what you said is true, that the factory completed 993 line-production in December '97 and they held back cars out of sequence that were hand completed and 'rolled out' in '98. Porsche notes 'manufacture completion' dates on each vehicles internal factory records ... so if you're interested, you can make an appointment at the new 'archive' facility above the new Mueseum in Stuttgart and have a look if you have an upcoming trip and an extra hour to spend ...

Well, yeah .. but do you think they actually built any more up from whitebody's for any markets after Dec '97? I'm thinking they built up the last of them to a point and then finished them over the next few months ... speculation, as usual but having spent a lifetime in big product production environments, it's what I'd do to free up the line and the talent to work on the new 996/987 ..

It seems to be a long standing tradition with Porsche now......continue building and selling the top/high dollar model while the new model is phased in.

Tim,
Are all these last production numbers chronological? It was mentioned here that about 30 cars came down per day... It is not correct to say that the window sticker /sill sticker was applied by the dealer. It must have been applied by the factory, because it matches the Certificate of Authenticity, my sill states 10/97 as per C of A. So ,594 C2S s produced by October 14, 1997.
So it begs the question of the last "run", (I know the factory closes in August) and I was told during a factory tour that in the fall they produce their specialty cars, like their race cars. did they start with 0001...???
Regards,
Bert

It sounds like I'll need to make a trip to the museum archives to confirm and verify these things. It' a shame that we don't have a factory supported and recognized official "993 Registry" like the RS and 356 predecessors.
