Default Coupé light problems

I have a problem with my light inside the coupé.

The two lights inside have 3 options:
*Always OFF
*On when you unlock the doors, and close when you start the car.
*ON all the time.

The light, according to the manual, should be in the middle position, as I want it.

But the problem is, it does not close down when I start the car, or lock it...

So I have "two" positions that keeps the light all the time ON, and one OFF.

Anyone know why???

If both lights behave the same in all positions, you have an issue with door switch. Wiggle it by hand, see what happens.

Your hood might also be open - that will make interior lights stay ON.

SUPER THANKS nile13!!!

The little light under the front hood did never ended to shine, even when i closed the hood.

I took the connection apart, where the lock is, and now even the interior light works well again!! (inside the coupé)

This little light under the hood has cost me two new expansive batteries...

Good catch! I recently ran my battery down when working on the car. I had
the hood down but not latched. When it got dark I could see the interior lights
were on and thought WTF. Lesson learned.

Good to hear that problem is taken care of.

One trick that I've learned from Andreas a couple years ago - when working on the car with either front hood or rear engine cover open, you can push down on the latch with your hand or with a screwdriver until it clicks and latches down. As if the hood or engine cover are closed. The lights will go off. To unlatch them back after the work is done, simply pull on corresponding release lever from inside the car. Much easier than other solutions.

LED bulbs in all the courtesy lights are a good thing, if one inadvertently leaves bonnet, lid or doors open. They won't draw the battery down near as fast, probably allowing an overnight "mistake" with no dead battery. Brighter too.

I got hooked on them in my old 928, that had either 7 or 9 courtesy lights. Put 'em in the 993 in short order, after I got her.

LED is a good idea. Think I will switch to that bulbs.

Thanks again friends.

I just ordered these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/181012877477...84.m1497.l2649

Will see how they work out when they arrive. I do have bright white LED in my interior light fr teh past year or so but can't stand the morgue-like white-bluish color of about 5K Kelvin.

I found a short in the same trunk light that affected the operation of the immobilizer ready state light on the clock.

I have "read" that you can still program a remote without the benefit and feedback from the warning light, but have never actually met anyone who could.

I'd go as far as to say its "essential" to the programming of a remote.

The same goes for the engine bay and glove box lights, which are all on the same circuit as the trunk light. Any issues in any one of these lights, affects them all.

Special thanks to Alex and GC who helped me pinpoint and discover the lighting relationships, and their ancillary effect on other systems of the 993 (Immobilizer Romote Programming)
