Default ECU reset and smog test success

A week or so back, I brought the c4s in for a smog test after replacing the cats. I failed as the ECU hadn't reset after I cleared the CEL and I asked how to accomplish the reset.

I followed the procedure twice and the codes reset. Took the test today and passed! Yes, now off to AAA tomorrow morning for the reg renewal....

"I followed the procedure twice and the codes reset."

You mean 'set'? They 'reset' when your clear a CEL or disconnect the battery.
Like you 'reset' your PC when it locks-up to place it back in its default state,
e.g. the 'reset' state for the OBDII monitors (readiness codes) is none set
or all reset.

Thanks for the clarification but I sincerely wonder whether anyone -- anyone -- was confused by the set vs. reset. If anyone was, I apologize.

Doesn't matter as long as you passed the smog test. Went through the reset last year and what a relief when I passed smog. Congratulations!
