Default New Seats = cant fit w helmet

I installed Sparco Milanos with Sparco sliders and OMP brakcets. Decided to check them out with the helmet on quickly to see how the headroom was. Im not tall 5-8 or so, and my helmet hits the roof. Not by much, I could probably get away with a half inch or so of lowering. I was witting in a driving position with a slight recline.

Im sure others have had this issue. I searched the forum using "headroom" and really didnt find much help. Any suggestions? The car is dual use DE/DD and I really dont want to relocate any of the under seat stuff.

My car had sparco Torino seats the from the PO, and he had thinner foam for the seat cushion. The seat cushion cover usually are designed to be taken off, but I don't know where you can get the thinner foam.

If there is room under the seat, I would looking into modifying the bracket so the seats mounts lower.

Not sure if BK Auto makes some brackets that fit this seat. I have them for the Recaro GT3 and they work very well. The easiest will be taking out the cussions to lower position while on the track.

These are street seats, no removable bottom cushion. I sat in them for awhile last night and was able to get a semi comfortable position with the helmet on. Had to move forward a bit and recline slightly. A little further down the slope and I will end up with race shells.

You might try a different helmet. I had the same problem. I'm 5'10" but with a long torso. I took my car to the helmet store and tried on helmets until I found the one with the least distance from the top of my head to the outer shell. I did this by sitting in the car and trying on 15 different helmets. The sales guy was thrilled (not.)
I was able to find one...

Now I cant seem to find a clip on style bracket for the inboard lap belt that will clear the recline hardware. These seats may end up in the for sale section.

Yup, usimg 9001/9003 combination. Also tried using 2 9001s. They seem to be the lowest profile out there.

may have to get rid of the sliders.
When I had my sparco evos, I had the drivers seat fixed with no slider... it sat nice and low.

HJC helmets have a pretty low profile (vs Bell and Aria), and will give you more headroom. You should also be sitting slightly more forward than your normal DD driving position.

I did move forward to a track position and with a slight recline my helmet (GForce) just clears. New issue is with the attachment points for the clip in lap belts. Using a bk9001 in conjunction with stock belt receiver on the tunnel results in the recline mechanism of the seat interfering with the forward movement of the seat (9001 hits the recline mech)
