to the masses...NO Porsche can be a sleeper. Most think EVERY 911 is a turbo, even without a wing.

Audi wagons are sleepers...especially the Allroad's...LOVE EM! Lots to love at 500HP. There was just one recently sold with that HP, orig owner, spectacular maintenance, detailed build sheets...$15K.

I thought about it, always loved the Allroads...but like I need another vehicle to drive that gets 10mpg.

Now for a real sleeper, how about a Mercury Bobcat 2 door wagon-faux wood panel sides, and a 5L Mustang drivetrain. One was available locally last summer, nice conversion, pretty cheap too.

Any old Plymouth/Chevy wagon brought seriously up to date would be cool.

Here's another sleeper, a Volvo wagon with a Corvette motor. It's called the Volvette. Supposedly will do 190.

It's a big misconception that the LS7 (or most small block V8's) weigh a ton. Forged crank, aluminum head, Ti. rods, etc...

I think the 993 engine comes in at close to 500 lbs.

Ever build a sleeper? How about a 200bhp Sahara beige 1973 2002tii that looked completely stock other than wheels and ride height? That was a sleeper. As many have said already, a 911 by definition isn't a sleeper. My orange 1973 2002 touring wasn't either as it was an orange hatchback, two qualities that drew attention...

Default Yes-I have a sleeper

2005 Audi Allroad-apr stage 2 with other upgrades-360bhp and 400 lbs of torque.
A true wolf in sheeps clothing.
I must say I am thinking of a 2009-10 cayenne gts. But the old girl
is so much fun to pass BMW's in! Amongst others!

How is a 3800lb car with 360bhp/400lb ft a sleeper? Thats not enough power to surprise much but a hohum family sedan these days. Hell, a stock E550 mercedes would give that a hell of a run for its money.

so when I first had my 9M 350BHP conversion done I left my 993 stock from the outside (did do suspension) OK it was a sports car to the general public but on the track it was very much a sleeper in P car company, I had a few GT3 owners come up and ask to see my supercharger, I lifted my hood and showed them a stock looking 3.6 NVR - when they looked puzzled asked how much speed they could carry through the corners - the look on their faces

Now that is a sleeper in the company my car keeps on the track !

It has now had the full RS makeover so no longer do I get a que forming to find out how the 993 NVR can go so fast but I love the look of it!

Renegade Hybrids out of Las Vegas has a conversion kit to install a Z06 motor into a 996. The weight distribution is very close. Can they make a kit for a 993? Probably not that much interest with the H20 plumbing involved.

If you have a 996 with a blown motor, a Z06 crate motor and a Renegade Hybrids kit would be cheaper. With a little aero, a Z06 996 could probably break 200 mph...sort of a scary proposition.

While walking to a local park north of Tampa I spied a 1969 Camaro convetible in a garage (partly covered with a coil of garden hose. Walked up to chat with the owner. Was I surprized . The car is one of the famous Yenko zL1 cars. Powered by an all aluminum 427 Chev big block probably more than 600 hp and lighter than a 283.. This guy has had the car 35 yrs and knows what it,s worth It is NOT a clone. What blows me away is his house isn't worth $50k his car might be worth over $250. That car IS a sleeper .

1200 HP sleeper enough?

Hairdresser's car? It's a term of endearment for me, as I used to have a Mazdaspeed MX5.
