Brake bleeding questions
At the last DE event I got the brakes kind of hot. I just changed the lines and filled with Motul 600. I bled as normal. Drain the resevoir (I can never reach that final rear most chamber) filled with Motul, pressurized w bleeder and bled RR, LR, RF, LF starting with outboard bleeder valve on each and then inboard bleeder valve. Lots of clouds and bubbles. Do I need to bleed the ABD? I thought I had found a thread previously on how to do it without the hammer tool but I cannot find it again.
Thanks

You can turn the ignition on and off multiple times while bleeding and make a couple of "rounds" at the bleeder valves. This moves the pump a little bit each time and with patience and without hammer you get it done. Ask me how I know.

Link to brake bleed procedure on C4S w/ hydraulic brake booster:
On Rennlist: I found the post by Droops83 that outlines doing a brake bleed procedure on a C4 (https://rennlist.com/forums/3352077-post5.html). Also found here: https://rennlist.com/forums/3570344-post3.html
I also find the procedure in section 3 of the workshop manual. I can't quote the manual page numbers for sure because so many of the page numbers were cut off when they scanned the manual. It does come -after- page 03-31.
I do not understand their Caution: Pump the brake pedal at least 10 times over its full travel after opening the first bleeder valve. This additional operation is only necessary for vehicles with hydraulic brake boosters and then only for the first bleeder valve.
I followed this and introduced a ton of air into the system. The next time I bleed the brakes, I'm not going to do that.

I had an unpleasant surprise when I did the job 3 days ago. I did the job per proper procedure, pressurized the reservoir and checked the the fluid level. Looked perfect but next morning, there was a mess because I must have overfilled and the excess fluid escaped and even spilled over the bunt of the reservoir. Not easy to clean up the mess because it ended up in a puddle at a hard to get to location. I do not really know why I ran into this issue but next time, I will do a mass balance: What goes out, will go in ...
