But to retrofit without removal, I guess you just cut them open and slide them in?

Any solution that doesn't involve prob a grand or so in labor and realignment?

I got the same issue, after installed the Bilstern HD with M030 spring, clunking sound from the driver side front wheel area at low speeds. also no feel or vibration, just a sound when turning at lower speed and straightening out. seems the sound from the spring with seat. any idea to solve it.

So on my next install or spring rebuild, I'll do that. However, for the bunch of us that seem to have this problem and don't want to remove a coilover, disassemble, install the ring, reassemble, reinstall, and realign, any suggestions? I HATE the noise...

yes, there is a cheaper alternative.

Open the hood, remove carpet, and tighten the M14 or 19mm top nut of the shock to torque. If it is tightened to torque, tighten a tad more. (5 minutes on a watch)
and give $75 to rennwish or an NGO of your choice.
regards

Are any of you guys experiencing this "clunk" noise when driving over a speed bump...or just when you are turning slowly then straightening out? I got the clunk noise after pss9 install in Portland, OR... mentioned it to the installer but they dismissed it as probably something loose inside the boot. Very knowlegable guys, so??? Mine especially clunks going over speed bumps. I dislike the noise but have lived with it now for years.

Varies for me. Mostly over rather uneven surfaces, but also slow speed in general such as parking and such.
