There are inspiring Speedsters on this forum (blue, Arena Red, silver, & white...) that are very beautiful!
Jon-- You're set on red/black?
If not, RLers may have many colorful inputs

A couple of things...we will redo the interior in upgraded black leather (probably use the OE Ferrari leather we used in the 993tt coupe) with red deviated stitching, add Recaro Sportser CS seats, repaint the car in Guards Red. It will be a wide body and the place providing the doors is pricing out the wide body rear quarters for us now. Oh...the rear and front bumperettes will be deleted.

We met today on color schemes...we agreed that we wanted to do something different than Guards Red but within the Porsche family color codes. We decided on Slate Grey and a custom bourdeaux/black leather interior with some surprises as far as door panels and dash materials.

Just one in a long line of decisions that are part of this journey. Chris and I are voraciously reading all your Speedster threads so we can learn from your mistakes and successes.

@JPP...that is sick. I love that blue.

@Marc W...thanks for positive vibe. Not in the club yet...long road ahead and numerous meetings on minutia...due diligence and patience is key in getting this done right.

PS...Chris@C2Design is also working on a simultaneous build on my 997.1tt Cab...not as drastic as the Speedster. The pic below is only 1/4 finished...we still need to fit on the GT2RS rear bumper, GT2 side skirts, cut the end caps of the rear wing base (get look closer to the GT3 wing), re-upholstered GT3 CF seats in Carrera Red, converting all aluminum looks bits to CF, getting rid of all carpet and replacing it with Carrera Red leather panels, then it goes to Switzer Performance (1000awhp...yea too much but life is too short).

In addition, Chris is also working on coordinating my SL65 wide body build (with new interior)...I'm putting his future children through college.

Before

After

Slate Grey is a perfect color for a 993 and a new choice on a Speedster! Well done!!!

UPDATE: We finally got a negotiated price on the exterior parts to make a 993 C2 cabriolet into a Turbo wide 993 Speedster...the donor quarter panels, rear bumper, side skirts, and most importantly the windshield (mounts/seals). The rear cowl and closing mechanism are from a separate source.

I can tell you now that dealing with parts guys is interesting. When Chris@C2Design started to inquire about the Speedster and wide body conversion parts we needed the place we got them from said..."Sure we got them...they have been sitting around for years...no problem."

Then we started to negotiate with them while still looking at other sources and other options (even fiberglass/carbon fiber wide body conversions)...in the end we went back to them but we decided we were not going to use the Speedster doors but by that time they said that the parts were "now spoken for."

This haggling of parts lasted for about 2 weeks and we finally got to the point where we got what we needed at a fair price...since the parts mysteriously became available again.

Now all we need is a donor car... This will be a long process but at least its started and the first hit to my pocket book has been made...parts should arrive next week. I'll take pics when they arrive...

Good luck and have fun sourcing all the parts - that's all part of the Speedster experience!

@Graham...you my friend are 100% correct. I keep thinking about the end game and any frustration borne out of this build will be worth it if we do this right. This won't be a purist's car but a fun car that will be detail oriented that will be well handling and responsive road car...not a garage queen.

993 Turbo body panels arrived today...headed to body shop...looks like a mess and part of big jigsaw puzzle.

Just signed the necessary documents today...I'm a new owner of a 1997 C2 Cab manual with 81k miles that will be the donor car for the Speedster project. Transport from NJ is being setup today...

The journey is going forward...
