Troubleshooting: left turn signal stays solid on, won't turn off
It's been a while since I've been here...
Tried searching for a possible answer, but didn't find anything obvious so I post. My 96 993 has developed an issue with the turn signal. I suspect it's with the flasher control unit (or whatever Porsche calls it), but I thought that I'd better check with more learned souls before whipping out the charge card, ordering things blindly.
Symptom: the left signal stays solid on ALL of the time, even after the car is turned off. So far the only way I've been able to shut off the signal bulbs is by disconnecting the battery, which probably isn't all that great a solution. This affects both front and rear lamps. The right signal works (it flashes when activated, but the hazard doesn't work (both sides left and right stay on solid). Seems to me it's related to the flasher control unit, and that it needs replacing. But what throws me is that the left lamps stay on even after the engine is shut off.
Any insight would be most appreciated.

they stay on because of two things in the old cars...
flasher is toast..or
there is a bulb out in the signal system..usually the same side..at least that what it does to a 70 911s
