Theoretically a 993 and 964 RS should stall the same - the difference is parasitic drag on the engine. The 964 RS has no A/C, no Power Steering and drives the alternator at a lower speed. The 964 RS still stalls, probably to some extent due to its tall first gear.
How those parasitic loss variables come together in a 993 probably contributes to stalling variability. For example, on a hot night with the headlights on, A/C on, and sound system on (high alternator load + A/C torque requirement) while parallel parking the car (thus increasing the power steering drag) may lead to a stall due to the high parasitic drag on the engine that might not have occurred if the A/C, headlights and sound system were turned off.

Couldnt agree more----AC/Headlights on---more likely (Im speaking for myself) the stall happens. I have had triple stalls sitting on place. Stall....at a stand still, start then it stalls, start again, stall, start again, stall..........after that nothing for months. Havent been able to find a rhyme/reason why it happens but it has happened more when the AC/Headlights are on than when both are off. That I have issolated over the years.
Go start your own thread.

+1 I will add that when I switched from Fabspeed Supertrap mufflers to BilllyBoat (sp?) which have a bit more back pressure the occasional stall disappeared completely. I put a LWF setup in my Wife's 968 as well as the 993. We both drive our cars often at DE's and the way you can pull out of slow corners with this setup is just fantastic. One thing I did notice that helped tremoundsly on the 993 is to flush/bleed the Clutch Master Cylinder. The car is very easy to get off the line since I did that small maint task.

Hopefully this particular LWF will be going into a '96 with OBDII, a very very clean ISV, and a driver who rarely stalls it through sheer carelessness.
The only stalling likely to occur is me finding time to finish my engine drop and install the LWF/ clutch, what with busy work and family schedule, but that should be the extent of it.

The LWF is one of the best mods you can do to make your car feel more like a sports car. I love it in my '95. I added the chip from Steve Weiner, and it transformed the car.
When I get into a 993 without it, it takes me a minute to figure out what's "wrong" with the car. You really really feel the difference.
