Default Real or fake advice: oil filters

Hello,

attached a picture of two oil fliters I just got. Been changing my own oil for a while now and never seen this label before. I am not saying they are fake, just that I have never seen a paper label affixed before, it has always been printed directly on the metal canister. Also, maybe ignorant, but made in the USA?What do you think?

We have noticed the USA label before - you can do a search. I have not seen a sticker before - if that is what it is, its hard to tell from the picture.

Where were the filters sourced from?

Cheers,

MIke

Never seen those either. They could be from the same OEM maker, but I would not even chance it. Too much risk of damaging my precious 993 engine over $50 worth of oil fiters.

I just looked at my new filters that i puchased at Sunset about 6 months ago. They are identical with affixed label made in the USA.

Mike,

is the label printed on paper and attached to the filter, or is the printed matter directly on the metal?

Thanks

These factory filters are all made in the USA now, hence the add-on label.

We use Mahle filters with one exception (993TT).

The label is pre-printed then attached to the filters. Both filters also have some mnfg information in small green print on the bottom of the filters. Both filters came in the standard oem porsche box's that Sunset has always used. Hope that helps. Mike

Since they are not made by Mahle, I was going to ask who makes them in the USA for Porsche NA, and then I see what looks like the Pierburg insignia on the side of the left filter.

So who set up shop in the US?

I have 2 sets of the same filters, one from Suncoast and one From Sunset. (I like buying from any dealer that has SUN in the name)
