Default Question... hole on engine shroud?

I am reassembling my rebuilt engine and I can't find in any of my pix what might have gone thru this hole. The pix I took is of the passenger side of the engine shroud just to the side of the alternator.

Can anyone see what might be there on their car? Post a pix?

I am making progress, but I don't want to forget anything.

Thanks!!!!!!!

I believe that is the hole for the wiring to the alternator from the wiring harness.

Vorsicht,

Can you take a pix that shows the backside of the shroud (area between the power steering pump and the alternator hump behind the spark plug wires? The alternator wires is a very large bundle with a grommet that I already have installed. The hole in question is smaller and closer to the intake port. I looked over all of the cables, etc... and don't see anything that might go there.

I have the TPC Supercharger on this car so there is no Vari-Ram (?) intake plumbing.

Thanks!!! What a great Forum!!!!!

Same on my 993 which I believe to be all original...

It could be an escape hatch for mice.

That is for the mouse that usually builds a nest in the winter storage on top of cyl #3. Yes there is an extra hole and the three engine shrouds I have owned have them too.

That is the pix I needed.
Yes! That is the hole, and it looks like it is not used for anything. Now I can proceed

Huge THANKS guys!!!!!!!!

I wonder if I should plug it so more air is directed down over the cylinders and keep the mice out!!!

I went to my local Auto Zone and bought a pack of grommets. There was one the right size for the hole. I am filling the hole in the grommet with Ultra Black Silicone sealant. It takes 24 hrs to cure, so tomorrow I will plug the hole.

This should be a good thing.

What a great place!!!!
