never did get a pair of the New Balance 993's. Found this trio of model 996 colors while in NYC this last weekend, just couldn't bring myself to buy a pair. Think the packaging said something about them having liquid cooled inserts, for comfort...?

It's actually part of the 996 toolkit, when no other tool would bring back the car on the road, you can use them to walk home and start shopping a 993.

despite the colours why would someone buy the 996 model ?

the seal between the heel and uppers will fail injuring your achilles

I heard that the heel blows out without warning leaving you stranded. There is a company offering a fix though. Duct Tape.
