993 Big Reds with 44mm / 40mm Pistons

993 Big Reds with 44mm / 40mm Pistons
Good Afternoon Guys –
I have an interesting brake question. I purchased a set of used Big Reds for the front of my car and new 993RS rear calipers. I purchased a rebuild kit for each piston in the Big Reds – 44mm and 36mm. The 44mm pistons fit without problem. The 36mm pistons were way too small for the cylinder bore. I measured the piston that came with the calipers (remember these were purchased used) and they measured 40mm. I just received four (4) 40mm pistons and rebuild kits and they mate perfectly with the cylinder bore. I am unsure if the PO had these custom machined or ??? Anyone have an idea if this set up was available from Porsche? I appreciate the feedback and help in my search.

all 993 whether whether Big Red or normal were 36/44
