Cars And Torsion Bars (And Ducktails And/Or MFI)
"Little" R Gruppe gathering over at EASY today. Been a couple of years since I'd wandered by.
From the number of '74 Carreras that showed, I thought there might have been a tribute IROC race that could have broken out. Or the three '73 S's that had me, for a couple of minutes, regretting the sale of mine.
Celebrity appearance by our new Panorama Editor Pete Stout (the 914). And an old Ferrari smoked us out, emerging from an neighboring parking lot........
Silly me didn't grab a photo of the Holy Grail--an orange '73 RS that the guy has owned for 29 years. (I think his story is around somewhere.)
And some 993 guy from here rolled out his "beater" 912. Uh huh.

Hey Ken,
Thanks for posting the GREAT pics!
Love those '74 Carrera's and its nice to see they are finally getting recognized.
That Lusso is stunning (smoking or not). The Germans and Italians have differing philosophies about oil ring design & sealing,...

Glad everyone enjoyed.
I'm just partial to the 911/83 engined cars, and especially oddly enough the '74-6 cars. So there's a love-hate thing going on with the US spec '74 Carrera. Yeah, yeah I could get all busy with that '80 Weissach I've got in the backyard, but since the whole longhood things is so out of control now I'd be dumb not to make that into the conversation piece with all the good stuff from Ruby.
Seriously, the best car there yesterday was our 993 lister's 110% restored '67 912.

Here's one Steve can appreciate. Just look at the photo, take it in, and wonder where the hell I'm going with the story I'll post below............

So that '70 above, back when it was a mere 2.2T with Webers, was the car I got to knock off the Top Time perch when I moved to AZ back in '83. The owner has kept it all these years, even though he's raced at near-pro level with a 914-6 in GT2 and a tube frame Nissan in GT3--including several trips to the Runoffs.
They weren't all Cup car type stuff and/or with mega, mega HP back in the Olden Days.
(And that 2.4S behind it is pretty much a lifelong vintage racer, though I'm not sure the owner races anymore.)
