Hi Everyone --
Have an interesting story of how I ended up here as a member. Although I bought my first 911 back in 2002 (996), I didn't hear about Rennlist until recently. I'd been looking for the right 993 for about a year. I finally lucked into finding a super clean 1995 993. The PO was a very nice guy in his late '70's. He was a complete car nut who had owned many P cars and shared tons of good tips about the 993. Unfortunately a bad back prompted him to pass the 993 along and I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
I had the car shipped from Georgia to Texas. When it arrived, it had a small, white rennlist sticker on the rear window. I looked online to see what rennlist was all about. Mistake #1!
The 993 turned about to be my favorite of all of the three P cars. Sure it's not nearly as fast as the 997S, but it has timeless styling and a behind the wheel feel that is second to no other car on the road. Plus I enjoy the little projects for these cars...gets me away from work. One of the POs had installed an aftermarket Alpine head unit with Pioneer speakers in door. The rear deck speakers appeared to be the original Nokia OEM and were trashed.
This was good news for me. Complete justification for a new stereo system! First, I want to say that I totally get the folks that say the 993 exhaust is all the music they need. I get it and agree it's probably the best sounding stock exhaust system I've ever heard. But at the same time, I also appreciate a great sounding stereo. Why not have the best of both worlds?
I decided to go all out. My goal was highly accurate audio reproduction, not loud and booming. I found tons of good posts right here. Now I'm nearly done installing a Kenwood KDDC-X996 receiver, JL Audio XD 700/5 receiver, Focal Access 165A1 SG (doors), Boston Acoustics 4 x 6 plates (rear deck), JL Audio W3v3 Series 8" Sub (ideal enclosure in a creative spot). I spent more than a few hours in this forum find the best way to approach the 993s challenging interior. The end result is an audio system that has a sound quality that is about 10 times better that what you'll every hear in an OEM "premium sound" equipped German car of any brand. The highs and mids are crystal clear. I would describe the bass as accurate, perfectly tight and powerful, but not booming.
I'll post details and pics of the stereo upgrade once all the interior bolts and screws are back in place. I have a few tips to share. By the way, you don't need a huge permanent box that takes up all the rear floor space for good bass.
OK, I know everyone likes pics, so here you go:
I do have one question. I looked for a post with no luck...maybe I didn't use the right terms. I have a few lights out on the 3rd brake (1995 style bread basket). Where's the best place to buy these and what's the procedure for replacement?
Thanks!
Jason

Welcome! Beautiful car! Re: 3rd brake light, the individual lamps are available: 999 631 135 90. Just a matter of carefully disassembling, unsoldering the bad ones and re-soldering good ones and re-assembling. Use the search engine here and you'll find lots of info. on the subject (and plenty of others!)

Welcome Jason and thanks for all the interesting background. Love hearing a good 993 story Looks like a beautiful car and from a good home.
I'm particularly interested in hearing more about your stereo install -- maybe some interior pictures and "in process" ones if you took any. My 993 has the doors that have 3 separate speakers. Can't recall what this was called stock. I have to replace at least the fronts as they are trashed, and depending on how that sounds, maybe the rears also (or just disconnect them).
Would love to see those blue LED gauges also!
Cheers

Re: your 3rd brake light issue there is the factory bulb to solder in or the full swap to led.
