I would think that if you are really burning that much oil the OBDC would kick off all sorets of misfire and other faults. I would look into other issues again before I would let anyone open your engine.

Spencer *** and Kip Harris are more modern TT and GT3 guys. They do great work for routine maintenance but Todd needs an experienced air cooled engine shop for rebuilds.

I am looking for feedback
I just left Danbury Porsche where I bought my 911
I had them reset the CEL for the 2nd time again due to secondary air issues
They are swearing up and down that I do not have excessive oil consumption at 1 quart per 500 miles
I want to beleive them in the worst way but the advice I have recieved elsewhere is contrary
Is there any one out there that burns this much oil routinely?I am so tired of wasting my energy thinking about this that I asked the salesmen to buy it from me if he thinks it is no big deal (he happens to be in the market himself for a 993)

I'd suggest read carefully on the optimum fill point. If you are overfilling, collective wisdom is that it will burn off the excess, resulting in errant oil consumption.

That too was my hope after my first 500 miles of driving, Unfortuneatly I have mastered the top off process and I only go about half way up the twisty part so I don't risk over filling it

Spencer at Speedsport claims to have a (relatively) inexpensive fix for SAI. He's just down the road (literally) from Danbury Porsche. Might be worth a drive by.

To be honest I am not worried about adding the oil or resetting the CEL
I have heard of alot of fixes for that
My major worry is AM i going to be in store for major damage if I don't replace the exhaust valve guides
Thanks for the replies by the way

Perhaps Spencer or the shops referenced above could do tests and provide a non-dealer opinion...

Go see Dan Jacobs at Hairy Dog garage he will steer you straight.

Porsche is very generous in their estimation of normal oil consumption, yours sounds high to me but the cost of rectifying it is likely to be pretty high too, so it may be best to just live w/ it.

+1. But I'm with OP that I'd seek assurance there isn't something untoward going on.

I agree with Bill, there is no reason not to see Dan. Whether you act or not is up to you, but at least you will have options.
