Default Electrical Problem Left Rear turn signal 993 '97 targa

When left indicator is activated, the front left front turn signal flashes rapidly:

however, the left rear turn signal is lit up continually, (will not flash, just constantly lit on full bright)

and the left rear standard running lamp also is lit up constantly (eventhough head lights are in the off position)

switching to right side signal, all is normal. Normal flash, normal flash speed, correct bulbs light up.

now with no turn signals in use, and only head lamps on, both tail lights light normally, but the left turn bulb illuminates constantly.

fuses are good. and it appears the turn relay is good to the extent the right side flasher is working fine.

What do you recommend??

Did you try swapping the left and right rear turn signal bulbs?

Have you had any bodywork done recently or had the bumper covers or lenses off? I can't remember if it was the exact symptoms but I had a problem like that and it turned out a shop mixed up the wiring.

I am guessing a short or a bad ground. But how to begin?

try reversing the two outward turn signal lights in the taillights---mine had been re installed incorrectly and I got a fast flasher on the small outside rear lights on both sides

Did you ever find out what was the problem? The exact same thing is happening to my 96 TT.
