Jeff Tech Tactics a few weeks ago at Ontario
Would have pretty much been worth the whole Tech Tactics event just to have him speak.
...a true inspiration to me for all of his various talents combined with humility.
I considered flying to CA simply for his tech talk. Happily envious of those who got to hear him.

A friend's related photos from recent Irvine Cars & Coffees on his blog, digitalDtour.com:
Parked towards the opposite end of Porsche row was another unique example, this one a beautiful red1996 993 turbo, wearing a set of RUF wheels, RUF lower front spoiler/valence, and running a sport exhaust system. I learned that this car was the latest acquisition made by Truspeed Motorsports, to be added to their current “for sale” inventory.
^^ Not to be confused with RLer KMY (Kevin)'s red RUF.
Following was this pair of Arena Red metallic Porsches; a 993 turbo on the left, and to its right, a 986 Boxster.

Javier and I were ogling what we first thought to be a pre-A 356, which turned out to be Jeff Zwart's 1948 Gmund coupe-one of the first 50 cars built by Porsche! We spent several minutes talking to Jeff-a really nice guy-about it. Funny, as cool a collection as he has, most that come into his shop walk right past this car. It was our vote as probably the coolest car there yesterday.

Very cool to see somebody driving one. I think there were only 52 produced in Gmund, Austria then 356 production started in the old Reutter plant in Stuttgart. The bodies were all aluminum and hand hammered into shape on wooden bucks. Lots of dissimilar metals corrosion and fatigue problems makes restoration almost impossible without completely re-fabricating the bodies today. I had heard there are only 11 or so left in the world. Only Porsche to win Pebble Beach 1st in class Concourse was Hans-Peter's Gmund coupe last year .. it was restored by the American shop Road Scholars. Starts to restore my faith in American craftsmanship coming back :-)

That red Turbo's gorgeous on the outside, though it initially made think RLer KMY's stellar Turbo R was up for sale
