As those of you know that have had the pleasure of meeting him a few times: Jeff Zwart's the best, IMHO.
...a true inspiration to me for all of his various talents combined with humility.
I considered flying to CA simply for his tech talk. Happily envious of those who got to hear him.

A friend's related photos from recent Irvine Cars & Coffees on his blog, digitalDtour.com:

^^ Not to be confused with RLer KMY (Kevin)'s red RUF.

It was our vote as probably the coolest car there yesterday.
Very cool to see somebody driving one. I think there were only 52 produced in Gmund, Austria then 356 production started in the old Reutter plant in Stuttgart. The bodies were all aluminum and hand hammered into shape on wooden bucks. Lots of dissimilar metals corrosion and fatigue problems makes restoration almost impossible without completely re-fabricating the bodies today. I had heard there are only 11 or so left in the world. Only Porsche to win Pebble Beach 1st in class Concourse was Hans-Peter's Gmund coupe last year .. it was restored by the American shop Road Scholars. Starts to restore my faith in American craftsmanship coming back :-)
Here's a shot of the body buck in Gmund in 1948:

Some year I need to do that, but it's such a haul from here. I may have to organize my own SD County drive, like I did a couple of years ago-I think we got 35 cars out.

Funny, I had a pic of that body buck in my mind, and asked Jeff if that is what was used to fab his body, and he confirmed. His is indeed Aluminum.

'Love' is a strong word. How do you feel about dark chocolate with caramel?

That red Turbo's gorgeous on the outside, though it initially made think RLer KMY's stellar Turbo R was up for sale

Glad you like Chris F's Cars & Coffee photos. Two more recent C&C 993s from my friend's blog, digitalDtour.com:
