I think it was the other way around. Ordered in Mexico Blue, but this was the closest they could offer.

Forget depreciation. Who wants to drive a 993 in Manhattan? The ride would be almost intolerably rough, you're constantly sitting in stop and go traffic, etc. If I owned a car in Manhattan, it would be the softest riding, most insulated car I could find.

Interesting, I too use a 993 C4S as my city car. Makes for a great daily driver. Small, all weather all wheel drive and not as flashy as newer cars.
Super fun to drive however!

Thanks for the great article - Seinfeld is my favorite American!
My C2S is my citycar as well - stop n' go traffic in central Copenhagen every day, 4-5 drives pr day, crammed parkinglots and slalom around cyclists and scooters... I wouldn't have it any other way, and I intend to use it like this until they run out of fossil fuels!

While on holiday we took a BMW 5 series from Germany up to Copenhagen. Driving around Copenhagen scared the crap out of me due to cyclists. I remember looking out the window of our high floor hotel room at all the people buzzing around on bicycles and told my wife we would be so lucky to get out of the city without me mowing down a bike rider.

love it
hearing the tales of successful daily grind w/ one of these from ^yous^ just affirms what seemed an epiphany - one of these as a daily works, works well, and is doable from a realistic perspective (reliably / $$$'ly)
starts me thinking about a 2/4S coupe instead of der Panzerwagen, but then M(rs)ission Control may not agree w/ that trajectory 8-)...
btw
bwaha!
