Skeenah gap is a great one with one very long straight, if that's your thing. The section of hwy 60 from skeenah to suches is excellent, but the descent down the hill once in Lumpkin county typically has so much slow traffic that my car runs hot through there.

Route is pretty good, but it does omit the best part of Wolfpen (IMO);

Also, being on the northern side of the mountain and in deep forest, Wolfpen can freeze if we get a rain/cold front weather combination. One year we ran, Wolfpen had already been salted/sanded by the time NYE came around and I believe it was actually closed the year we ran in rain/snow from Suches to Skeenah.
With its southern exposure, 60 is a better bet for dry pavement this time of year.

Yeah, I tried a couple of years in a row to get a spring run together but it seems that people are really busy with family and such at that time of year. NYE seems to be a "dead" day for a lot of people and for whatever reason, holds an attraction for a lot of folks....I'd love to do a big spring run if for no other reason that we don't have to don Polartec just to stand in the open and talk.

Another little fun side trip: heading east on 180 (after the 348/Richard B Russell leg), the approach road to Brasstown Bald is a fun road up to the parking lot and back down to 180. I'm familiar with the entire route, your fun will depend entirely on what kind of slow traffic you get stuck behind. Could be none, could be a lot. Sadly it only takes one gawker to slow things down. Personally, I enjoy the stretch from Suches to Woody Gap.
Another 26 mile twisty is Ga 197 from Hwy 76 between Hiawassee and Clayton, skirting the western edge of Lake Burton, to Clarkesville. Might want to consider a loop from Helen using 356/197/255/17 back to Helen. You might have to ford a small stream on 197 (paved). A caveat: I have not been through this area in a long time, someone may have more up to date info.
Everyone have a SAFE enjoyable drive (That safe part applies to you, Guest89). I'll spend the day on the Blue Ridge Parkway !

Welcome to Roswell. There was a great road to drive on. Old Alabama in between Holcomb Bridge and Riverside Dr. That is until they had a speed trap on it last week.
