Did the spacers make a big difference for you in regards to intake temps?

Say Robert, you on the S2 forum at all? If so, you've probably read about the RS2 America build here in the States (Georgia)? That's my good friend Tommyboy... that car / project is incredulous!
I am very aware of the s2 forum but I don´t post there myself. I registered a user just to be able to see parts of the forum and pictures that are hidden if you are not logged in. I have come across your friends thread on the S2 forum before when looking for information. Very impressive! He must be a very patient person. Is it a five year project so far? Here it is:

I personally can't tell you my reduction in temps but others who have actually measured seem to see a 40 degree reduction or so in temp.

A good stocking stuffer for Santa to bring you

In general the RS4 is very reliable. I bought mine about a year ago with 16K miles and CPO til 08/14. I have not had any issues and am currently at 23.5K miles. They are great cars and I am sure you will have fun in it when the snow comes.

I think you need to line up the C4S and the RS4 next to each other and take a picture of them both from the back sitting in your garage.

Great to have two awd cars in your area.

I am a little over 60k now. Car has been great. I did end up discovering the cover to the ECM was warped and some water got down there during this really hard rain over the summer. ECM ended up being fine but had to replace some relays and then replace the ECM cover/box itself. Other than that no issues at all.

It's defnitely a special car and I love hitting that "S" button

Mark - both of your cars are fantasmagoric... wow to the combo.

Great pair to have there, well played good sir very well played...

The ECU floodage isn't unique to RS4 (fortunately/unfortunately)... no different than sunroof drains in 993s or cowl drains in my MB or nearly any Audi. I endeavor to not set off in any of my cars w/o ensuring scuttles are free of visible debris, as you know where it's destined to further journey to & effect (floodage).

Seems as thought these are pretty reliable from all the reading I've done!! I hope mine follows suit!

I bought my 07 B7 RS4 about 4 months ago.. it's truly a stunning machine. The PO had put in a Miltek exhaust and thicker sway bars.

I grin every time I'm fortunate to get to choose between two incredible machines... and I think you will too. Enjoy!

I believe it's a timing belt? Correct me if I am wrong.
Scheduled replacement is probably around 128,000km's.
I recently did this job on my 4.2 V8 Touareg and I am sure the RS4 uses a similar kit that besides the timing belt includes the water pump, tensioners, rollers, thermostat and serpentine belt for under $400.

The newer S4 and RS4 V8s use timing chains.

It's quite the job to do timing chains.

Yup. Timing chains at the back of the motor. They are rarely problematic though.

Haven't read of any chain issues on the RS4, moreso on the S4. Must use different components!
