10 years w/ my 993
Over the last 10 years I have participated on this forum when my experience or expertise seemed warranted. As you can see from my number of posts this has been relative seldom. However, my postings do not reflect the amount of info and insight I have gained from this forum. To this end I thought I would share my 993 life over the last decade and perhaps provide a sounding board for some of the upgrades and I have accomplished and the length of the slippery slope I have traveled. So............. over the next several days I will be posting based on my history, ultimately arriving at the (I think) fully custom build as described in my signature. If you enjoy so much the better, if you have questions I will do my best to answer. All work has been done in Poncho's Garage located in So Oregon which also happens to be where I eat, sleep and drink...not necessarily in that order.
So here we go...
10 years with my 993. ( well 11 if you are really counting…)
Day 1 December 2001, found my baby on Autotrader, 180 miles away and immediately went for an afternoon drive. Being new to the whole Porsche thing but thinking I knew about cars in general, saw it, drove it (a 1995, 2 owner CAL car, 67K miles) and bought it… Love at 1st sight. Fortunately I was able to use it as a daily driver for the next 2 years putting 100 miles a day with no issues. Boy was I a happy guy. Come rain, snow, heat (sometimes all in the same day) I was able to live my dream and get into the sounds, ticks and rhythm’s of my little 993.
As purchased the modifications included: Autothority Chip (more on that later), Rennsport Shifter, Center- sliding arm rest, Remus exhaust and euro side markers. Over the next year, I discovered the slippery slope and when my ‘95 turned 95k miles (December 2002) I treated her to: PSS 9’s, MY 2002 wheels, a new radio and a much more athletic stance (~RS height). All this happened in Poncho’s garage with the help of the family apprentice’s, two and four legged. In addition we added M030 rear sway bar, turbo drop links, a front strut brace, the steering rack upgrade brace and aftermarket electric locks and alarm.
Also that December, we decided to go all in and get my wife a 912 to play with (he, he, he) and secured a 66 locally from a 356 guru here in So Oregon. Much future fun buy another thread…

Nice story of your car ownership. Now please continue your story.
I understand how it feels to own a Porsche for over 10 years as I've owned my 964 for nearly 13 years. Last year I've added a '89 3.2 Carrera.
