Default C4 front drop links - what have we here???

These are what's on my 96 C4, they don't look like the pics I've been able to find of C4 or even RS drop links for the 993, all of which appear much straighter...

With this big "C" bend, could these be 964 drop links? If so, why do you suppose the previous owner would have put these on??

Those are the front drop links of the C4/C4S, TT and these are also the front drop links from the US/RoW M030 suspension.

The AWD cars front halfshafts need that 'C' section drop link to avoid unpleasant contact ....

When I updated my C2S with PSS9's I also chose to upgrade to a M030...basically fatter sways. I did it properly as Gert points out with these fancy C curved drop links up front. But it was clear that the originals would have worked up front because it was not a C4 car.

So my question is why did they use these drop links as part of the M030 set up on non C4 cars?

Because the AWD/M030 front drop links are more rigid.
