Default 18" Hollow Spokes For Sale ($777)

$777

18" Hollow Spokes: I just bought these, but have decided to go to OZ wheels for the race car. So as a consequence these are now on the block. These are the so called Porsche "Technology" wheels, hollow spoke:

Two (2) 7 1/2 X 18" wheels, described by Porsche as (18" Turbo Wheels), 993.362.134 05, 50 mm off set. These wheels, even though they carry a 993 part #, were originally an option on the Boxster. I cannot use them as I am going to Yokohama slicks, and for the size I want to use, an 8" wide wheel would be optimal. Weight: 22 Lbs

Two (2) 10" X 18", again described by Porsche as 18" Turbo wheels, part #:
993.362.140.01. These are the hollow spoke rear wheels standard equipment on the 993 Turbo, and optional on all other models. Weight: 26.5 Lbs

All four wheels are straight and true, and have been freshly re-painted. The wheels are getting back from the paint shop on the 13th. I am asking $777, the 777 Plan, for the set but will consider all offers. Pics will be available as soon as I pick them up. Fright is on the buyer, Pay Pal accepted. e-mail me if interested mfschacht@gmail.com

I think this is the wrong part # for the 993 turbo, it should be 993.362.140.00.
I think yours would have an offset of 65 and the turbo is 40.

Here is the scoop on Porsche Turbo wheels. Just because Porsche calls them (18" Turbo Wheels) doesn't mean they are just for the 993 Turbo. The 8X7 1/2" front wheels are called 18" Turbo 1 wheels by Porsche..Porsche Technical Information Boxster 7/00 4440

These are the part # for a 993 narrow body Turbo wheels:
Fronts: 8X18 ET 52.0 993 362 136 00
Rears: 10X18 ET 65 993 362 140 01

The front wheels for the narrow body and the wide body are the same...should be since they have the same front end.
The rears on the wide body car is as follows:
Rear: 10X18 ET 40.0 993 362 140 00

The above information was gathered from a PORSCHE Technical Bulletin
911 (993) 4/97 4440 Summer Tire/Wheel Summary. I'll post the actual pdf as soon as my god forsaken EXCEDE satellite ISP responds

You're doing yourself a disservice. The charts I've seen have the rears weighing in at 23.36lbs. Maybe you quoted the weight of the solid version.

Note: A These wheels are NOT freshly painted. As soon as I dropped the price to $777, I told the painter to stop the project. I paid $975 for the wheels from W. Wong. There is only so much beating I am willing to take. I am already out $198, plus my time and energy to box up the wheels. The wheels will come in an OZ box so don't get too excited

The part # on the inner face of the rear wheel spokes state: 993 362 140 01 "A" =10JX18H2 52mm

There is a second part # on the wheel: 993 362 138 00 "B"= 9JX18 H2 52mm

I suspect that the OEM builder of the wheel used the same wheel spokes for the 9" and 10" wheel and welded either a 9" or 10" barrel depending on what wheel was being made.

Porsche states the "rim code" is no longer visable on the wheels. Measure the width of the wheel from both the outer edges of the innner and outer flange."

I have done this...and measure 10 7/8 or 276.22500mm The technical Bulleting says that a 9" hollow wheel is 253mm, a 10" wheel is 278mm My measurment of 276 on my $7.77 ruler tells me, this is a 10" hollow spoke wheel,
part # 993 362 140 01

As to the front, it states on the wheel, 7 1/2 and the part # of 993 362 134 05...this is without a doubt a 7 1/2" hollow wheel.

As to the weight, I weighed the wheels on my scale. It is what it is. BTW I have weighed the solid spoke rear wheels, much heavier, a real boat anchor.

And finally, if these wheels are not what I represent them to be, that is 7 1/2" front and 10" rear hollow technology wheels, then send them back. I'll split the return freight with you. For any "doubting Thomas" types, I can take pics of the inner side of the spokes and post them up...and let's not think "he doth protest too much". I am just a stickler for details and have established a reputation as a good buyer and seller on Rennlist.

Pics would assist here. The inner spoke design is very different. The shape of the outer spoke, while subtly different does have smoother, rounder profile. Post up the pics.

The weight discrepancy is odd. Can't imagine a casting difference could account for such a large spread of weights.

I'm looking for a set of rear hollow spoke wheels that fit a narrow body 964. I have a set of 18x 10 ET 40 and they are just a little too wide. I need an offset to pull the wheel closer to the body. Paint condition is not important but must be straight. Are these still for sale and will you break the set? Tom. 440-653-5556
