Is the 993 the best bang for the buck or what?

You don't like how it looks, other people do. I know you understand the meaning of subjective, so I'm not quite clear why we are arguing about this.
You think the 993 is the best based on subjective qualities, I don't. We will never, and I do mean never, agree on this, so best to just agree to disagree.

Bang for the Buck.
The most performance for least amount of money.
The 996 can be bought for relatively little money (given its age and miles of course) and performance is higher up on the scale then that of the 993.
I wouldnt buy a 996 mind you. But in the world of performance bargins, you cannot ignore the 996.
Case in point, look at these three:
1990-1994 Carrera C2 under 50k miles
1995-1998 Carrera C2 under 50k miles
1999-2005 Carrera C2 under 50k miles
look at what the average prices are to compare the 3 and then compare performance figures.

yes, in every objective way, the 996 turbo is a far superior car to a 993.

Quad is right in that we should just agree to disagree. As you can see from my signature, I have a 993TT and a 991 C2S PDK Cab. The 991 is vastly superior to the TT on any scientific (notice I did not say objective) way you could measure....and yet I always get more pleasure in driving the 993. That's the "bang" in the formula, and that will differ with every driver. In terms of power and handling for the dollar spent, the 996 turbo is on top. If that is your measure you might consider a Corvette. Those cars are fast as hell, handle, cheap to maintain but for tires, and don't cost much to buy with 20,000 miles on the clock.
I'm an old fart and the other day an old friend came by with his restored 1963 VW camper. Driving that bog slow, ill handling contraption with lousy brakes was an absolute blast. But then I was smoking dope and driving around CA in 1966 in of those. So the bang is all about us. We should agree to disagree, but I agree with the 993 nuts.

Bang for the buck!
To me that means how a car is holding it's value. All 911's are holding their value - basically - with some exceptions...
964 - not bad. 993 - great. 996 - not so great.
Just a matter of taste, and how deep one's pockets are! After all there are no bad Porsches. My 993 is a keeper, and so is my 924S...

Here something to throw into the mix, 996 GT3. I've never driven one but honestly the prices on these are very reasonable compared to a 997 GT3, at least from what I have seen locally.
Never driven one, but some have have told me this car is really special "bang for your buck."
I wouldn't trade in my TT for it, but curious to hear feedback.

Bang for the buck is and always has been the most performance for the lowest price.
For budget minded speed freaks this is rule of thumb.

Not if you factor in durability and quality as a performance factor. Fast forward-A 996 and a 993 5 years from now: the 993 will still be showing off its build quality and will be almost as solid in feel as the day it rolled off the line. The 996, if it makes it, will have even more rattles, warped plastic, spent parts and depreciation than it does now.
The 993 is a far super build however whereas the 996 is disposable.
