Default FDM SSK/Goldenrod...Another Satisfied Customer!

Did the FDM SSK/Goldenrod install today. Based on RL advice, I also replaced the shift tube seals (2). What a fantastic mod! Much more precise, direct, and positive shift throws. Seems like it shortened the throws by maybe 1" or so.

Thanks to Mark, Darin and the folks at FDM for producing really quality pieces that make an already awesome car even better!

+1 on this mod (and Darin and Mark!). I wish the throw was even shorter...lose so much power waiting to get to next gear (Hello 2nd gear? Where are you?). I know there's a $15K additional mod for this with Steve at Rennsport...Tempting, but...not so practical.

I have had the golden rod for about a year and really like it. Have the FD SSK siiting here at my desk waiting for a warm day to install. Mark and Darin are great except that they rooted for the wrong World Series team.

Great to hear!

Thanks for the +feedback and the nice comments

I'm just glad we survived the Great Golden Rod Shortage of 2012
Between cores and supplier issues, it has been a rough road

I have to add to this and agree. I installed mine and it made a big difference. It was the way it should have been from the factory. Plus, it made my SAI light go out...

That was a joke...it has nothing to do with the SAI light.......

Default Another Very Satisfied Customer

Need to bring this thread back to the top to say what a great upgrade the FDM SSK/Golden Rod is and how great the service was.

If you are still driving your 993 with the original shift linkage, DO THIS UPGRADE!

First, Darin and Mark were great to work with. Thanks guys!

Second, Words cannot express the improvement in the shift feel and precision over my stock shifter. The shifter sits a bit higher, which means closer to the wheel, and the throw is significantly shorter and more precise. There is a little more resistance at the gate, but when you're driving I find that just tells you more clearly when the car is in the new gear.

After about ten minutes' adjustment to the new set up, all I could think of was that I wish I had done this years ago when I first got the car!

Of course, it probably also helped to remove the pound or so of tree berries that some woodland creature had decided at some point to store in my transmission tunnel.

Darin can post the picture if he wants.

agreed...I installed mine a month ago and really love it. On the advice of another Rennlister I cut the top 1-1/4" off of the end of the shift lever. Now, it sits at or slightly below the stock height and is nice and short...more precise.

Love the imporvement.

Just wondering how many miles were on your original parts before you replaced them.

Usually replacing worn parts with any new parts provides a huge improvement.
