I had one of those stick-on discs that come with Garmin GPS mounted top center on my dash for a few days, but I don't really care for that position of the GPS, it's too much "in your face" and when the GPS is not mounted, the shiny disc throws an annoying reflection.

Today I remounted the disc on about the only bare spot on the lower dash, between the ash tray and the glove box door. So far this looks like a good spot--the GPS is well in view/reach but not obtrusive, and not in the way of a passenger's knees. When the GPS is not mounted, the disc pretty much disappears.

Joe, not a bad place to mount the GPS actually. I do have the Walrod rings, so that'll be a no-go. However like you said, it will obscure the clock and warning lights. That said, couldn't one can place the suction mount over the speedometer? Who needs to see the speed when you can look at the digital readout on the GPS itself. Hmm...

It can be positioned right at your finger tips, very convienent.

Only downside, it obscures the clock naturally...and the bounty of idiot lights on it-immobilizer included.

Anyway, quality mounts at "reasonable" prices.

I mounted mine on the far left, lower corner of the windshield - as far left & low as possible. I love it - it's the perfect location for me and I don't take my eyes off the road to view it. Since I always drive +5 and do not want a speeding ticket, I appreciate the digital speed readout. Sorry for the poor iPhone photo.

It works quite well; mine is the LTE version and only arrived yesterday. I use spotify for my music and it is nice having all the apps at your fingertips. The new turn-by-turn navigation really makes it a viable GPS unit in my view. The case I used in the HardCandy shockdrop which absorbs the vibration nicely $49 @ http://www.hardcandycases.com/ipad-m...gged-case.html

I realize this mod is probably offensive to some of the p-car purists on here but when you use the car as a daily driver like I do the modern luxuries get a lot of use.

Cheers

I like the weighted base...hskpwrsche
The weighted base works really well; doesn't slide at all.

But I rarely use the GPS.

I use my Droid phone on the windshield roughly over the radio. The part that bugs me more are the wires and the stupid B sized outlet.

Wow, looks awesome at night. Does it get in the way when you shift?

I use the suction cup on the windshield, slightly to the left of center. Sometimes I'll just use my iphone, placed under the parking brake, and just listen to the turn by turn directions.

This is an iPad Mini? Looks more like a regular (full-sized) iPad to me.

Those using suction cup mounts, what brands do you like? I've seen this:

http://www.seasucker.com/shop/mini-naked-flex-mount/

Which looks pretty versatile.
