There really is no reason to keep a spare in the car if the one you have has been reworked.

I've seen 3 failed DME relays; my own and two of other Rennlisters, and all of them were in perfect condition as far as the relay components go (contacts, relay coils, etc).

What causes DME relays to fail is the sub-standard soldering of the relay board which you can redo and once done, I'll bet it'll never fail again.

After you rework yours, keep a spare if it makes you feel good. I keep one for other Porsches on the road.
