She's a beauty, enjoy and most importantly have fun. 993s are such amazing cars and fun because imo you get to challenge yourself and really become a better driver so its a win win situation.

Gorgeous car and welcome aboard!
The "basket handle" was fitted to all 993s for the North American market from start of production. Sometime in the spring of 1995, March is my best estimate, North American coupes switched to the later style 3rd brake light, as your car seems to have (probably added by a previous owner as it wasn't available when your car was built). This was standard equipment in North America and optional for 993s in other markets. The "basket handle" was still used on coupes and Targas (again standard in North America, optional elsewhere) until 993 production ceased.

That's interesting - there are a few little oddities on cars over the decades that were introduced specifically so the car could enter the US market. I was once a Morris Minor enthusiast (I guess I've come a long way since then...) and seem to recall that the front of the Morris Minor was changed after the first two years production so that the headlights were higher (40 inches?) to meet US regulations.
As far as I know, my car was imported from Hong Kong in 2006, but was first registered in Germany - maybe a tourist pick up from the factory. I intend to do a bit of sleuthing on the car's history in times to come, anyway.

congrats... just like rinty said above, you are going to love driving through the turns with your ride..
would you consider getting a custom carpet dash cover ? --i'm thinking of getting one custom made for my ride --iit sounds tacky, but believe me its not if done right, and protects from damaging sunlight...
