cheers john.
"U" got me at the STFU comment. "U" just don't get it. Now, I understand.

I'm with Ed on this. The short form texting/writing is totally annoying, especially for those that still write with complete words and sentences. Plus I don't know half the short-form acronyms.

You asked for an explanation. Ed provided it. I don't think he was over the line, but your response seems to be. I'm also with Ed on this one. Complete sentences are always better than acronyms.

look guys--
i started out asking for a piece of technical advice.
got a tongue in cheek answer from ilko, so i pinged him back.
no worries either way. i got a kick out of it actually.
i wasnt asking any third party for an unsolicited opinion.
ed wanted to impose himself as the texting police on my particular thread.
if he had a problem reading certain posts
then pm the poster, or talk about it in OT, or go to the mods to complain.
there are thousands of posts here using some abbreviated form that go quite smoothly.
if the mods want to put out something re shorthand i will comply.
i'll state again i've had almost 10 years and 1000 posts here, few of which had even a whiff
of 'controversy'. thanks to others for sharing your opinion, but its not being asked for here either.
but now i am asking that we please stay on topic.
i just want to put my cig lighter on switched power without frying anything.
cheers.

Could you just wire a switch in to the cig lighter wiring and manually switch it or do you want it on and off with ignition?

a switch would be interesting if i could place it at the blank next to the actual lighter.
right now i have a dummy cig button there, and using the real socket for fm trans.
