As my son said, the 4.2 in his S4 was great except for mileage. I put nearly 90K on a '06 A8 with 4.2 with no issues and for that big a car it got decent mileage...

SKL, what kind of mileage did you get? I'm also curious if it's sold yet.

Love the 4.2 in my RS4

a 5v V8 @ 7200 just hasss to be experienced

it's velvety and violent and awesome - the intake snarl rips and snorts

the //S5 particularly sounds like a German IROC (not in a bad way) - the cabin sound is fantabular

RS4 FTMFW... spectacular machines... just embrace 15k Carbonoscopy's... FU FSI! 8-/...tho... 5v@EIGHTYTWOhundo... just wow. At their Streets of Tomorrow product launch yrseses back they (AoA) foolhardily setup an autox course. Timed. Bwaha. I set FTD in 1st @ the limiter... Just Not Right.

I say dance w/ that devil if you don't pile on the miles (I do 20-22k/yr d'oh). I realllly still want an RS4cab, my good bud just scored a navy/silver one... sigh. It's on 'the list'. RS4 is a tad forumchallenge'd tho 8-/ (my 600 is near worse). Lotta chooches unfort.

put //S5cabs on the menu too for that matter...pretty neat combo of elements (I'm all for topless 4seats w/ a trunk 6spd V8... quattro to boot (TorSen just kicksrse end of story). And some of their color motif's on those are simply breathtaking. Be picky for THE right one, I say heh heh.

Miks S. - D3 A8... good buy right now, lotta car for the $... I've some exposure to them if you ever have Q's. Good to see a localish autox nut 8-)...

You could get 25-28 on the highway in that car....it was the best cruiser Ive ever driven. Im not sure what overall average would be but Im guessing around 20. And yes, it is gone

I saw an RS4 here in Alpharetta, Ga. just the other day. Real nice throaty sound when the car was given a bit of gas. And wheel wells were a nice touch. IMHO

ps. my Alumibiatch mileage @ 'my' usage (er, Just Not Right) was day in day out 16.9, which degraded to 16.6 or so as o2's denegrated

noooo complaints considering 4x265's spinning WOT thru TorSen and 4k lbs of Aluminum awesomeness 8-)

If I had parking space for less that $300 a month and fewer cars, I'd own an A8. If nothing else, we are driving to Florida and back again this year and this would be a great car for that. As well as a good overall barge for Boston roads.

Albeit if I had parking space for less than $300 a month I'd have another half dozen cars by now. And I have to think about possibly towing the appliance to Nebraska for National next year. Miata's a light car, but I don't think A8 would make a great tow vehicle for a 3,000 mile roundtrip, would it?

BTW. I've driven RS6 when it was available in 2003. I truly do not understand that car. Complete overkill in my book.

I drove friends S5 and do like the interior and all that but I still prefer any RS4(B7)or new S6 with V10 motor!(Lamborghini motor...)
